Small businesses in Swan Hill and Mildura to get nbn ready
The Victorian Small Business Commission is holding free breakfast events with NBN Co in Swan Hill and Mildura to provide small businesses with expert advice on how to get nbn ready.
Commissioner Judy O’Connell will moderate interactive panel discussions and Q&As on what small businesses need to know about disconnection and connecting to the nbn.
The nbn access network is being rolled out area by area and as each area switches on, businesses within fixed line areas will have an 18-month ‘ready for service’ window before existing services are disconnected.
It’s important for small businesses to get prepared early on and switch affected services before their disconnection date, even if they only use a landline.
Coming along to our networking events is a way for local businesses to learn more about the disconnection and connection processes, how to be prepared and what to do if things don’t go to plan.
Chris Parham, General Manager Corporate at Mildura Council will be a panellist at the Mildura event and Paul Dillon, CEO of Mallee Rising, will be a panellist in Swan Hill.
Both panels will also include:
- an ICT expert who can support small businesses with their nbn connections
- a small business owner who will share insights into how they overcame hurdles when making the switch and how their business has benefitted
- Ebony Aitken, Head of NBN local in Victoria and Tasmania.
The events will run as follows:
Swan Hill: 1 August, 7:30–9.30am, Spoons Riverside. Bookings via Eventbrite.
Mildura: 2 August, 7:30–9.30am, Quality Hotel Mildura Grand. Bookings via Eventbrite.
